Employee Handbook

On-Call Employees

On-call employees are employed on an as-needed basis, regardless of the number of hours worked each week. On-call employees are not eligible for Frenchman ’ s Creek ’ s Benefit Program. For the purpose of effective payroll administration, positions will be classified as either exempt or nonexempt using the criteria established by the Fair Labor Standards Act and other state or federal laws. Employees who are performing jobs classified as non exempt, more commonly referred to as hourly, are paid for actual hours worked and according to the law are eligible to receive overtime pay for any hours worked over forty (40) hours each week. In most cases employees who are performing jobs classified as exempt are paid a salary and are not eligible to receive overtime pay. The Director of Human Resources will inform each new employee at the time of hire, transfer, or promotion of his/her payroll classification. Your working hours and meal periods (if applicable) are scheduled according to the needs of your department. Most departments require working during weekend and holidays. Department schedules are posted each week. Check the schedule in case there is a change in days off or scheduled hours. Ask your immediate supervisor any questions you may have about your working schedule. Also, be ready for work at your scheduled starting time. Any changes in the regular working hours of any employee must have the approval of your immediate supervisor. Changes will be temporary and within the requirements of the department. Schedule

Overtime Work

From time to time, you will be required to work overtime. When this occurs, we expect you to cooperate and help when and where you are needed. Every effort will be made to divide overtime work equally among those who are qualified to receive it.

Overtime Pay

Hourly employees (classified as non-exempt) will be paid overtime at the rate of time and one-half (1.5) for all hours actually worked over forty (40) hours in any one (1) workweek. A workweek begins at 12:00 a.m. Monday and ends at 11:59 p.m. Sunday. Your immediate supervisor must give you prior approval to work overtime. Make sure that you have this approval to receive timely credit for overtime work. Failure to obtain prior supervisor approval may result in discipline action up to and including termination.
