The goal of the Frenchman's Creek Charities Foundation, founded over 30 years ago, is to support the work of local non - profits in our area that provide health, education, cultural and financial as sistance to nearby needy populations primarily in Palm Beach Gardens, Jupiter and Juno Beach. While we've traditionally sup ported about 20 local charities, as well as the police, fire and rec reation departments in the towns where Frenchman's is located, additional funds we've accrued will enable us to add newer chari ties to our roster. Our Allocations Committee has been busy evaluating 32 organi zations' grant requests, looking at their most recent tax filing, an audited financial statement, a complete Associated Grantmakers Form, their budget and a written proposal. Once determinations are made, we hope to have a final dollar value of their requests. Charity Committee members will then make site visits to these non - profits to see for themselves where the community's money goes. As examples of last year's success, the Palm Beach Gardens Fire and Rescue Department got a dozen ballistic rifle - rated shields; low - income children got to see the ocean and sea turtles for the first time thanks to an educational program at Loggerhead Marinelife Center, and veterans in financial straits were helped through the Wounded Veterans Relief Fund. We're also looking at requests from Alzheimer's Community Care, Allamanda Ele mentary School, The Learning Center at the Els Center for Excel lence, The ARC, and Busch Wildlife Sanctuary to name a few.

The Charities Foundation is like a giving circle. While an individ ual donation is significant, it's the combined funds that help us make a difference and have enabled us to fully fund our grantees the past few years. We make this happen through our fun - filled Charity Weekend, scheduled for April 5 - 7, where we'll have ten nis and tikkyball tournaments, our Auction of the Pros and Cad dies and cocktail party, a Saturday Night Name That Tune event as well as our Sunday golf outing and festive closing dinner. We educate the community about this event through articles in FC Life, promotional flyers throughout the community and the invita tion itself. The goal is to continue our reputation as the "Community that Cares" and we hope the community continues its generous philosophy to help our neighbors in need. Once we know the amount of funds raised, letters with checks will be sent to the grantees detailing the amount of the grant and the program for which is to be used. All grantees are required to sign a copy of the letter and return.it to the Foundation.

We thank the POA, Marketing and Food and Beverage depart ments for all their continued support and assistance.

The community will get a final report in June.
