The ongoing Covid outbreak has necessitated that we maintain a flexibility concerning Charity Weekend and the events we plan to have this season. Nevertheless, we hope to have an exciting few days where we ’ ve added new activities with the goal of surpassing the $400,000 raised last season to help close to 20 charities that provide health, education, cultural and financial assistance to needy populations in Palm Beach Gardens, Juno Beach and Jupiter. Last season our weekend was canceled due to Covid. Still, not only were we able to fully fund our grant recipi- ents, but in two instances, we exceeded their requests since the population served was in dire financial straits. We are currently reviewing the grant proposals from these charities and hope to have a final dollar value of their requests shortly. The allocations committee looks at their most recent tax filings, a completed Associated Grantmakers Form, their budget and a written proposal. We call those charities whose proposals need clarification and once all the information is received and reviewed, the entire allocation committee votes on whether the charity gets funded. Some of the requests under review include: The Palm Beach Gardens Recreation Department, Alzheimer ’ s Community Care, Grove Park Elementary School, Palm Beach Gardens Community High School, Wounded Veterans Relief Fund, the Town of Juno Beach, Jupiter Medical Center Foundation, West Jupiter Community Center, Furry Friends Adoption Clinic and Ranch, The Learning Center at The Els Center for Excellence, El Sol, The Arc, Dreyfoos School of the Arts Foundation, and First Tee Palm Beaches.

In the past years, the Charity Weekend has included tennis, pickle ball, bocce an auction of the pros and caddies who play two days later in the tournament, and a concluding festive dinner. If all goes well, this season we plan to add a wonderful kickoff concert by gifted pianist Simon Mulligan, whose repertoire ranges from Stra- vinsky to Sting. We also hope to offer golf related items at the cad- dy auction and have our first Casino Night including a high stakes poker game. Finally, at our closing dinner, we hope to auction off big ticket items as well. We have made a concerted effort to reach out to the entire FC Community, especially the considerable number of new members, to educate them about what the Foundation does and the charities it supports. This has included emails, articles in FC Life and a video so the community fully understands where its money goes. As a result, we raised the most money ever and our committee has grown to over 80 people to help vet the charities and assist with the weekend itself. Once we know the amount raised, letters with checks will be sent to the grantees detailing the amount of the grants and the programs for which it is to be used. All grantees are required to sign a copy of the letter and return it to the Foundation.

In advance, we thank the Marketing and Food and Beverage Departments for their continued support and hard work.

A final report will be emailed to the community in June.
