Ladies Golf Member - Guest

By MIMI BERGEL The first Ladies Golf Member-Guest event of the 2023-2024 season was held on Thursday, February 1. The day started with registration and a huge buffet breakfast at the Pavillion, with so very many offerings. Due to the uncooperative weather, the starting time was delayed until 10:00, with all groups playing nine holes. There was a wonderful participation of 44 groups, more than covering all four nine hole courses, with guests coming from 46 different clubs. The theme was Butterflies and Birdies, and everything was loaded with beautiful multicolor butterflies, including the menus, programs, favors and decorations. Every one received crowns covered with so many beautiful butterflies. Unfortunately, for the golfers, there weren’t a lot of birdies!! This was even though everyone was given a sheet showing the hole locations and distances from the center on all holes. There were special events in each of the four flights – designated holes for straightest drive and closest to the hole – different ones for members and guests. The day concluded in a fabulously decorated Pavilion, with a wonderful buffet, highlighted by a lobster station and including several soups, many salads and several main course choices, and concluding with an assortment of desserts. Many thanks to our wonderful golf and food and beverage staffs for their cooperation and effort. Congratulation to Co-chairs Suzanne Moskow and Linda Robins and their committee who did a super and memorable job.

Nine kind - hearted members of Frenchman ’ s Creek participated in the Literacy Coalitions' "Read with Me Project." The Frenchman's Creek Volunteer Match Program organized our involvement. The morning began at 9 am at Allamanda Elementary School. members had been given guidelines for reading and creating the craft project for the book "Nigel and the Moon." We each read to small groups of either kindergarten children or to students with special needs.

The "Read with Me" project takes place 4 times a year and this project was supported by a grant from our Frenchman ’ s Creek Charity Foundation. Those who participated agreed that the time spent with these delightful children was meaningful and so much FUN! We thank: Andrea Finkel, Judy Goldsmith Margie Gottfried, Paula Israel, Patty Raber, Roz Nissman Joan Sclar, Barbara Stern, and Carol West for their dedication and participation.
