JULY 2020 edition

The Homefront column is designed to inform our members where in the community our new residents are living and other residences they may have. It also keeps up with our present members who have stayed in the community but moved to new dwellings.

Of course we always wish our members who are moving out of the community good luck wherever their travels take them and our new members and established members good luck in their new address. This month we have the pleasure of welcoming, LESLEY and DAVID KOEPPEL who purchased a home on Rivoli Drive. They also reside in NewYork, NewYork and South Hampton, New York. They have, pictured, three children, Noah, Adam and Claire.

OUR OSPREY FAMILY To those members who do not know, we have had Ospreys build a nest in our slash pine tree on the side of the men’s ninth South tee. It is visible from all the 9th tees. They have been coming for a number of years. Well during a very bad rain and wind storm last April, the limb with the nest broke and the nest fell to the ground. Wes found it and called Nancy Berkeley who called Burt Greenburg to try and rescue any of the eggs. One was found and Burt took it to Busch Wildlife, where they tried to save it in an incubator– to no avail. Mama

and Papa Osprey did not give up their vigil. Nancy just wrote to tell us that Wes, our greens keeper, built a beautiful platform shown above and hopefully the Osprey’s will build a new nest on it. Wes assures us it is quite sturdy . We all are wondering how will the Osprey’s know to build a nest there! Keep watching and let us know!
