The President ’ s Cup is considered the first major tournament in the Frenchman ’ s Creek Men ’ s golf season. The event took place this year on Friday November 4 th . First round, Best Ball of Partners, with 85% of handicap and Monday the 7 th of November, alternate shots, with 60% of the lower and 40% of the partners higher handicap. There were six flights with prizes awarded for the overall winner, runner up, round 1 and round 2 winners. The addition of round 2 winners helps keep everyone in the competition, even if they have a disastrous first round. The weather was perfect and the competition fierce but friendly. Round 2 was characterized by some incredibly low scores, 11 under, and some blow ups which can easily happen with the alternate shot format. When the dust, mainly from the construction site, settled, GIL HOLLANDER and JEFF TAUBER were victorious in the Hogan flight with MARK ROSENBAUM and MICHAEL BERNSTEIN winning the Jones flight. Other flight winners included STAN LEVIN and ALAN MINTZ, Palmer flight, ALAN YOUNG and DAVID DAVIS, Snead Flight, ED BLOCH and ROBERT STILTON Woods Flight and ROBERT SMOLENS and STEVE GORDON, Brad flight. A fine lunch at the Bag Drop café was a perfect finish to a tournament enjoyed by all. GIL HOLLANDER followed up his President ’ s cup win with a Hole - In - One on Thurs- day, November 10th to celebrate Hurricane Nicole narrowly missing Frenchman ’ s Creek. Av Fanaroff
