The Veteran ’ s Day Golf Tournament was played on Friday, November 11th. A record number of 188 members played consisting of teams all men, all ladies, mixed couples. There were contributions from over 200 households. Both courses were used for the step aside scramble format, two drives from each player required and 18 holers played as well as 9 holers. Because of hurricane Nicole, everyone had their fingers crossed, the tournament would be played. And sure enough, Mother Nature gave us the most beautiful day with clear skies, slight wind, and low humidity. Upon checking in, all the players received a sleeve of flag designed golf balls and at lunch we were given, a veteran ’ s day Frenchman ’ s Creek designed golf hat and a leather putter cover– red, white and blue designed. On the course there were two ample refreshment stations covering both courses at the same time– plus a roaming beverage cart. After golf, we were treated to a wonderful buffet luncheon having food available to every taste and diet restriction. The Food and Beverage Committee did a superb job being the parameters set by the Pavilion at this time. Co - Chairs, Jeffrey Parker and Jim Anchin announced that in excess of $ 33,000 was raised and will go directly to the VA of West Palm Beach to be used for homeless veterans. Thank you to the Co - Chairs and the Golf Staff for providing a successful great day handled perfectly logistically and professionally. Below are the winners:
