KEEP SAFE AT HOME: TIPS TO PROTECT YOUR HOUSE

Winter season is when criminal activity is most prevalent. Do not make it easy or give an individual an opportunity to steal your valuable possessions. Take the necessary precautions around your house:

CAR AND GARAGE: • Keep your garage door closed at all times. • Park your car in the garage. If you must park your car in the driveway, always lock your car doors and take the keyfob with you. Remove all valuables from sight. • Try installing motion sensor lights to discourage oportunists. • Keep your valuables like bicycles, golf carts, barbeques, etc. inside your garage.

AT YOUR HOME • Lock your doors and set your alarm any time you leave home for any reason. • Set your alarm before going to sleep. Check that all doors and windows are locked, and the alarm is set. • Once a year, check your locks. Make sure your locks aren’t damaged, and keep count of all the keys to your home. Also consider a deadbolt for the inside of your home. • Add a lock for outer sliding doors. Sliding doors are easier for burglars to open.
