Despite the impact Covid had the past few seasons on our plan ning a Charity Weekend, last year was our best ever. Thanks to the use of a tent, we were able to a have a concert by pianist Si mon Mulligan, our auction of the pros, a casino night, and our golf tournament and closing dinner. We raised over $500,000 which was unprecedented. This amount enabled us to not only fully fund all our grant requests, but add another three charities to the list of recipients. Over 20 charities that provide health, educa tion, cultural and financial assistance to needy populations in Palm Beach Gardens, Juno Beach and Jupiter received grants. We are currently reviewing the grant proposals from these chari ties and hope to have a final dollar value of their requests shortly. The allocations committee looks at their most recent tax filings, and audited financial statement, completed Associated Grantmak ers Form, their budget and a written proposal. As a result of the easing of Covid restrictions, our members plan to once again make site visits to these charities to see for themselves where the community's money goes. Based on the information provided, the entire allocations committee votes on which charities get funded. Some of the requests under review include: The Palm Beach Gar dens Recreation Department, Alzheimer's Community Care, Grove Park Elementary School, Allamanda Elementary School, Palm Beach Gardens Community High School, Wounded Veter ans Relief Fund, the Town of Juno Beach, Jupiter Medical Cen
ter Foundation, West Jupiter Community Center, Furry Friends Adoption Clinic and Ranch, Busch Wildlife Sanctuary, Logger head Marinelife Center, The Learning Center at the Els Center for Excellence, El Sol, The Arc and First Tee Palm Beaches. Due to some of the physical changes at the club, this year's Charity Weekend will be less extensive than in the past. We still intend to have pickleball, tennis, a trivia night, the auction of the pros and caddies who play two days later in the golf tournament, and a closing dinner. The idea is to make philanthro py fun. We are in the process of educating new members about the Charity Foundation and will have articles in FC Life so they can get a sense of the charities we support. The goal is to continue our reputation as the "Community that Cares" and we hope our mem bers will continue their support. Once we know the amount raised, letters with checks will be sent to the grantees detailing the amount of the grants and the program for which it is to be used. All grantees are required to sign a copy of the letter and return it to the Foundation.
In advance, we thank the POA, Marketing and Food and Bever age Departments for their continued support and hard work.
A final report will be mailed to the community in June.
Patti Raber Max, Chairperson Charity Weekend Committee
