Arthur Lerner had a Hole-in-One on January 29,2019. It was on hole number 5 of the South Course. The hole played at 139 yards and he used a 7 iron.

Playing with Arthur was Harris Berman, Arthur Lerner, Gerald Bartfield, and Ted Perlman.

Ted Davis had his Hole-in-One on Valentine’s Day, 2019. It was also on 5 of the South Course, which played at 141 yards and he also used a 7 iron.

Harvey Lamm also had a Hole-in-One on number 5 of the South Course. He had his on February 20, 2019. The hole played at 122 yards and he used 5 hybrid.

The photo shows Melody and Sadie at their first tennis tournament. They both did a skill drill tennis tournament and both came out winners! We are so proud of them. Melody is the granddaughter of Joan Gelch and Sadie is the granddaughter of Philip and Linda Dolen.

Sadie and Melody take tennis lessons once a week with Kristen Wertenberger and they both have worked hard on earning their first tennis trophy. Congratulations!

Our grandson, David Brucker, who lives in Plymouth Meeting, Pennsylvania, was accepted early decision to Cornell University. We are so proud and happy for him. MELANIE and MICHAEL LIPSON

ELLEN and STAN LATTMAN’S daughter-in-law Isabel Gillies just published her fourth book. The Art of Arranging yourself in the world “ Cozy.” Cozy isn’t something that just happens you have to make cozy happen. Isabel has mastered the art and subtle beauty of creating spaces where you feel safe, steady and at home in your corner of the world.

The Headliners Series featured The Diamonds on Thursday evening, February 14th. The even- ing was truly romantic and wonderful. Over 240 people attended and began the evening with a composed salad at their seat. Following was a buffet with all our favorite foods and finished with a composed valentine dessert. Tables adorned the living room, bar room and adjoining section of the dining room. The remainder of the dining room, was set up theater style to view the show. All seats were reserved and everyone loved the songs from the 50’s to today sung “Diamond” style. To end a special evening was a rose for each woman.

Of course, red was the color of the evening. We thank Gabby Brinkwirth for this picture. It seems on the way out, five women noticed they all had red shoes on and Barry Byrd who was wearing a red jacket. Like a good sport he lied on the ground (a feat in itself) and put his head in the middle of the “shoes.” Accolades to our culinary staff and entertainment chairs, Ethel Schultz and Judy Konigsberg.

This column is designed to inform our members where in the community our new residents are living and other residences they may have. It also keeps up with our present members who have stayed in the community but moved to new dwellings. Of course we always wish our members who are moving out of the community good luck wherever their travels take them and our new members and established members good luck in their new address .

RICH and BETH FENTIN ( pictured at right) bought Maxine and Robert Carson’s former home on Deauville Drive. The Carson’s now reside on Monet Drive West. Rich and Beth also reside in Belmont, Massachusetts.

JULIE and MARK WOLMAN who we are thrilled to welcome as the children of the late Nancy Klotz and niece and nephew of Michael and Karen Slosberg and Carol and Jerry Finkelman. They live on Toulouse Drive and also reside in West Hartford, Connecticut.

MARJORIE FELD has Katie and Cody. Katie, is a Jack Russell/ Chihuahua mix. She was rescued from Dead Dog Beach in Puerto Rico and was lucky to be adopted by a snowbird! She’s approximately 12- 13 years old and I’ve had her for a little over 10 years. Cody, is a pure bred Siamese. He’s a little over 12 and is as sweet as can be. He is very smart . He and Katie get along very well.

Hi I am Moose (white and black) and he’s Mac. He is one year older than me! We came to visit our grandparents, SYD and JERRY SHAW and we decided to stay! We have a big yard– a pool and assisted living. Did I mention we are Portuguese Water Dogs, so pool most important. We will see you around!

The players were divided into four flights, with each player receiving 90% of her handi- cap. The first round was better ball of partners, net, on each hole. The second round was played to better the score on each hole. There were playoffs in two flights to determine the winners and second place, with four twosomes in a playoff in flight one.

After a stretch of un- friendly weather, the day turned out to be beautiful. Nearly 200 women par- ticipated, with guests representing forty-seven different clubs. Coinciding with the date, the theme was “Chinese New Year.” The predominant color scheme was red, and black with gold. Upon signing in, as a welcome gift, everyone re- ceived a dozen golf balls and a red glove. After an extensive breakfast buffet, the ladies divided into four flights, played a one best ball shamble format. In addition to prizes given to winning foursomes, prizes were also given to a member and a guest in each flight , on designed holes, for the longest drive and closest to the pin on a par three. While playing golf, everyone was treated to lobster rolls, bang bang shrimp and edamame steamed dumplings. lous. After a delicious Chinese chicken salad there was an extensive buffet representing a

great Chinese restaurant menu– with so many luscious choices. The beautiful décor and centerpieces were magnificent– the dining room was exquisite. In addition to the welcoming harpist, there was a “dragon” crawling around the floor. All participants received a beautiful rain jacket and a coupon for 20% off an item in the golf shop. Co-Chairs Grace Drusinsky and Helene Shuter and their talented committee did a super job of planning and executing a great day. Many thanks to them and to JR, Martina, Chef Bernd and Ashish Seti and the wonderful golf, office and culinary staffs for all their help, fabulous food and organizing such a successful day. I am pleased to report that Frenchman's Creek sent a "van full" of volunteers to the Palm Beach Gardens High School on Monday, February 9th, to help mentor those students who have been selected by the Faculty of Palm Beach Gardens High School to participate in what is called the Pathfinder Scholarship competition sponsored by the Palm Beach Post. The students compete with other students from Palm Beach and Martin counties, and the winners are announced at a gathering at the Kravis Center in May. It is a "big deal" for the school and the students who participate, most all of whom can benefit greatly from the scholarships. Our Frenchman's Members broke into panels of three, and the contest- ants appeared, one at a time, before each of the panels whose job it was to assist them in practicing and improving their presentations. The students represented the best of the High School students, and one was more impressive than the next. To a person, I think each of the volunteers was thunderstruck by the poise, maturity and level of accomplishment of each of the contestants. As is often the case with the volunteer work, our members got more out of the morning session, perhaps, than did the students! Here are some of the comments offered up by our Frenchman Creek Members: What a rewarding experience . . . particularly for me. I left with a sense of optimism and hope for our future from our interactions with these incredibly talented folks . . . perhaps young in age, but not in perspective. I can't wait to learn of their future success. Arnold Kanarick. An uplifting, inspiring experience; an opportunity to meet future "superstars" at inception; a few minutes with these stu- dents will renew your faith in the future of our society; I can only hope that our coaching was as inspiring to them as their stories were to us." Larry Kleinberg. “Interviewing and conversing with these outstanding students was a truly inspiring experience . . . The day left me with confidence they will be leaders of tomorrow and it gives me hope for our future!” Chere Katz (Friend and “tagalong” on the visit). “On Friday, February 8 th , I participated along with a number of FC neighbors in my first Volunteer Match event at Palm Beach Gardens High School. It was one of the most rewarding experiences of my life. . . . All of the students were inspiring and I was deeply moved by their achievements both academically and personally. I am looking forward to my next opportunity to work with these students.” Donna Smolens. What a treat! What a way to spend a Friday morning! What a way to feel positive about the future!" Nina Botel, Chair of the book talks and Martina have a one time offer for us. Instead of paying for all three of the book talks, this month only ever you can just pay a nominal fee for the last book talk. The reason being is that last year’s discussion leader was not very good and disliked by many who attended. As a result , this year the attendance was down from past years. Nina has been able to get Sandra Biber Didner to be this year’s leader and everyone who has attended this year only has accolades for her. So that all who were not happy last year and new members to the book discussions, PLEASE come Wednesday, March 13th to the living room and be pleased with Sandra. She points out so many things and innuendos that you may have missed reading or never thought about and relates the book so well, either you want to go back and reread the book or if you never read the book go home and read it. She is so good that if you do not have time on such short notice to read The Immortalists , you can still come and enjoy the discussion . The book is titled, The Immortalists, by Chole Benjamin. It is about four teens, who having gone to a psychic are told the date they may pass away. Does it come true and how do these teens handle such news is the premise of the story. It is not sad and sometimes very light but one that calls for much discussion and imagination. So save the date, call the food and beverage office, 273-2648, to make your reservation.

The Nine, Wine and Dine tournament on February 15 was almost a carbon copy of the January event. There were close to 180 sign-ups, this tournament just gets more and more popular and fun. Golfers, divided into four flights, again more than covering both courses, played the step-aside scramble format. The successful choice of new prizes given was repeated, with the Grill Room dinners for all winners in each flight and bottles of wine for all second place finishers. The cocktails. hors d’oeuvres and wonderful buffet dinner following golf were as everyone always expects them to be– a lovely conclusion to a great day. Many thanks to our super chef, dining , office and golf staffs for all the organizing and preparation they did to help co- chairs Robin Rosenblatt and Sue Shaw who also deserve thanks for providing everyone with a wonderful day and anticipation for the next one.
