Season Handbook 2023-2024_10523
Message from the Executive Director and COO
Dear Members, As I’m sure you’ll find as you peruse the 2023-2024 Season Handbook, we are gearing up for another wonderful season here at Frenchman’s Creek! While our attention will no doubt remain centered on the construction project beginning to take shape in our midst, excitement is also building around the different programs and services that will be on offer this season, including the return of HomeServices coming up in October, an ever-improving member experience in the Pavilion, upgraded food service throughout the organization, an action-packed calendar of events, and tangible operational enhancements in golf, fitness and racquet sports. And of course, we expect yet another very busy season at the beloved Beach Club.
While we must be cautious with our spending, we also need to make sure we are addressing any infrastructure needs, and that we consistently present the club at the highest standard possible, even with the challenges we face operating in temporary facilities. To that end, I am pleased to announce that the Beach Club, Main Gate Security, Pavilion, and Fitness Center all received some much-needed maintenance during the off-season, including some modest cosmetic upgrades where warranted. A top priority in my first year here was to assess my management team and make determinations about changes that would be needed for us to be successful moving forward. That was a complex process, and I am grateful to the team I inherited from the previous administration for working with me during my first season. By the same token, I am extremely grateful to have received the full support of the Board to make some changes to key management positions. In all cases, the leaders I have hired are great people and first-class professionals, and, together with the managers that remain, I feel strongly we now have a team in place that is capable of taking the member experience to the next level and beyond. While our longer-term goal is to be ready to successfully move into the new clubhouse in the summer of 2025 and operate at the highest level, we remain singularly focused on your experience NOW, and on delivering the very best products, services and experiences from temporary operations that we possibly can. The first new leader I hired was David Kent, Director of Food and Beverage. To say that David had a challenging first season would be an understatement, but he has dedicated himself 100% to a superior dining experience in the Pavilion and at the Poolside Café, and overcame a lot of obstacles to get us through our first year without a clubhouse. He is very excited to be working with our new Executive Chef to improve all areas of the food and beverage program. Just as importantly, David and the capable team he has assembled have developed a comprehensive training program for the staff, which is gradually leading to improved service standards. Candidly, we still struggle with some consistency issues, but they are being addressed, and I am confident that the level of service will improve measurably this season. As with all things, however, this is a process, and our goal remains to perform at the highest level we can each day while continuing our work to deliver ever higher service standards in the future. The second new leader to join the team was Santiago Gonzalez, Director of Facilities, Engineering, and Construction. Santiago hit the ground running immediately, building a team around him that would allow us to effectively support the clubhouse construction project, tackle the extensive repairs and maintenance needs of the community, reintroduce home services, and establish a work order
