I’m ready for a change! January is a time for change and resolutions, and this year more than ever, we are making major changes at The Brickman Group. As some of you know, we have merged with ValleyCrest Companies and this year we will complete the transition from Brickman andValleyCrest to BrightView. LANDSCAPE & APPEARANCE GUIDELINES Annual flowers Please remove annuals by the end of May or the work will be completed at the Owner’s expense by the maintenance crew. Driveways and Garage No chains or blocking devices of any type are permitted on driveways at any time except duringmaintenance procedures. All garage doors are to be kept closed except as necessary for ingress or egress. GArbage Pick up All trash and garbage must be in appropriate containers. Garbage bags should be placed in a can, not on a roadway. Garbage cans and recycling bins should only be placed on the roadside after sunset the day before pick up. They must be removed by the end of the day of pickup. ARB Manual Additional rules pertaining to architectural control shall be made and adopted by the Board of Governors or delegated by the Board of Governors to the ARB and shall be published separately. Please review the Architectural Review Board Manual section of your Membership Directory for additional guidelines.

They will provide you with any information about the program that you may request. For your privacy registration will be individually scheduled sessions. Your SiloMed Medical History Report is comprehensive and contains extensive detail and depth. With it, Police, Fire Rescue, Paramedics, Emergency Room Personnel and other medical providers have a complete overview of your medical Profile, such as your physician’s names, medications and emergency contact information that help guide them before making treatment decisions. You can edit and update your information at any time via SiloMed’s website portal--username and password required.

TRAFFic Rules Speeding

The posted speed limit within the community is 25 mph. Speeding in excess of the posted speed limit for any motorized vehicle or golf carts will result in a speeding violation. Review the complete grievance procedures in your rules and regulations section of your membership directory. All drivers must comply with the rules and posted traffic requirements. Notices of violation may be issued by Security personnel. Parking Overnight parking on any street, with the exception of designated cul-de-sacs, is prohibited without prior written permission from the POA /Administration or Security. Parking is permitted on only one side of any roadway. Parking is permitted on the even side of a roadway, based on house numbers, on even numbered calendar Days. Parking is permitted on the odd side of a roadway, based on house numbers, on odd numbered calendar days. Parking on Frenchman’s Creek Drive is prohibited. Operating a Motor Vehicle No person without a valid driver’s license may drive any motorized vehicle within Frenchman’s Creek. Use of cellular phones is not permitted while driving a motorized vehicle within Frenchman’s Creek, except for the use of hands-free features. Parking is prohibited within ten (10) feet of mail boxes and fifteen (15) feet of fire hydrants.

No person may walk a dog(s) on the roadways within Frenchman’s Creek while driving in a golf cart.

All citations issued to a Member’s family, guest, invitee, agent or contractor will be treated as citations against the Member.

GAMES: This is a Drop Flight Format Tournament or a Round Robin format depending on number of teams. All six Pickleball courts will be utilized for match play. The tournament will be held on Sunday, March 13 th 9:30 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. NOTE: Due to the limited number of demo paddles, we recommend that you have your own paddles, balls and proper shoes! Water Hazards marked with ”Yellow Stakes” South Course

If a ball is hit into the water hazard on Holes #4, #9 & #11 the player must use the following options under Rule 26-1

26-1. Relief for Ball inWater Hazard It is a question of fact whether a ball that has been found after having been struck toward a water hazard is in the hazard. In the absence of knowledge or virtual certainty that a ball struck toward a water hazard, but not found, is in the hazard, the player must proceed under Rule 27-1. If a ball is found in a water hazard or if it is known or virtually certain that a ball that has not been found is in the water hazard (whether the ball lies in water or not), the player may under penalty of one stroke:

1. Proceed under the stroke and distance provision of Rule 27-1 by playing a ball as nearly as possible at the spot from which the original ball was played (see Rule 20-5): or

2. Drop a ball behind the water hazard, keeping the point at which the original ball last crossed the margin of the water hazard directly between the hole and the spot on which the ball is dropped, with no limit to how far behind the water hazard the ball may be dropped: or

3. Proceed under our Local Rule and play a ball from the Ball Drop Area. The ball drop area on holes #9 and #11 is on the green tee.

1.You must DROP the ball in the Ball Drop Area. 2.You CANNOT tee the ball up from the Ball Drop Area.

New Scripps Florida Compound Successfully Targets Hard-to-Treat Breast Cancer Some good news about breast cancer from Scripps Florida. Findings from a new study suggest a potent new therapeutic approach for a number of hard-to-treat breast cancers.An enzyme called casein kinase 1δ (CK1δ) has emerged as a highly vulnerable therapeutic target. Increased expression of the enzyme is common to breast cancer, including the difficult-to-treat subtype called “triple negative breast cancer,” which affects 10 to 20 percent of breast cancer patients.

“The best news is that we have been able to treat CK1δ-expressing breast cancers with a highly selective and potent inhibitor developed by Bill Roush’s lab that triggers rapid tumor cell death,” said Derek Duckett, an associate professor on the Scripps Florida campus. The new compound, calledSR-3029, was remarkably successful at blocking the growth of tumors in both animal models and in studies with tumor tissue from breast cancer patients. “These results are just the tip of the iceberg,” said Roush, who is professor, associate dean and executive director of medicinal chemistry at Scripps Florida. “Inhibitors such as SR-3029 are being studied in a host of different cancers, and we are hopeful this platform can be translated into clinical applications.” The Frenchman's Creek Women for Cancer Research (WFCR) has raised over $1 million for Scripps Florida in support of the research being done in the Cancer Biology Department. WFCR has an ongoing partnership withThe Scripps Research Institute in the challenge of conquering women’s cancer through research....and this year’s schedule of events will help Scripps Florida get even closer to this goal. “Please join us for the first event of the new year on January 7 th for “Cocktails and Conversation” at the Scripps Research Institute hosted by the Women for Cancer Research (WFCR). Her unusual name, Eicha, is the Hebrew title of the Biblical scroll of Lamentations, read once a year on the 9th of Av to commemorate the destruction of the Temple 2000 years ago. On reaching her 18th birthday, Eicha decides to formally change her name and try and establish a new identity, but the process turns out to be more complicated than she expect. Join us in this season’s foreign film showings on: Tuesday January 5 th at 5:30 p.m. & 7:30 p.m. A dark WW2 Austrian comedy about 2 friends , stolen artwork and mistaken identities. 1 hr 49 min Tuesday, January 19 th at 5:30 p.m. & 7:30 p.m. If you enjoyed the film Elsa and Fred last year, you will hopefully have the same feeling watching China Zorilla in another dramatic comedy. 1 hr 30 min Wednesday, January 27 th at 5:30 p.m. & 7:45 p.m. 2 hrs and 2 min of an Indian drama introduced in 2006 about an American born, (son of Indian immigrants) who is trying to fit in among his fellow New Yorkers despite his families unwillingness to let go of their traditional ways. FreNCHMAN’S CREEK LIVE SONER Cagaptay, The Washington Institute On Tuesday, January 12 th , the scheduled speaker, Michael Singh of the Washington Institute on Near East Policy, has an unavoidable family commitment that day and will not be able to join us. Instead, the Speaker will be Soner Cagaptay, the Institutes's leading scholar on Turkey. . Given Turkey's key role in today's particularly turbulent Middle East, we assure you that his presentation will be most interesting and informative. We are planning to reschedule Mr. Singh's presentation in April or next season. Mr. Cagaptay wrote hisYale doctoral thesis on Turkish nationalism. He has taught atYale, Princeton, Georgetown and Smith. He appears often on television news shows and writes regularly for scholarly journals andmajor print media. His most recent book, "The Rise ofTurkey" was published in 2014 and is a fascinating read. Dr. Toby Cosgrove, President and CEO of the Cleveland Clinic On Wednesday, February 10 th , we will hear from Dr. Toby Cosgrove, the President and CEO of the  Cleveland

Prior to being appointed CEO, Dr. Cosgrove chaired the Department of Thoracic and Cardiovascular surgery, and  played a major role in leading the clinic to its worldwide prominence in the field of cardiac care.
