Up the Creek is our column about members of Frenchman ’ s– happenings in their lives or families, special life moments, getting together with other members outside of the community, accomplishments or special awards they are given and whatever one wants to share with our members. Slowly we are changing FC LIFE and today “ Up The Creek ” has become “ AT THE CREEK. ” BEVERLY RUBENSTEIN received an Honorary Degree from the University of Vermont. Her citation reads in part as follows – some verbatim, some synopsized. Beverly Rubenstein Honorary Degree Citation University of Vermont 223rd Commencement Ceremony, Burlington, Vermont, May 19, 2024. Beverly, few have made as big an impact on UVM, specifically, the University’s National Reputation as a leader in the environment, as you and your late Husband, Steve. Your lead capital gift in 1997, helped establish UVM fully eclipsed eco system Science laboratory on the shores of Lake Champlain. In 2003, your 15 million dollar commitment in support of environmental education and research at UVM, resulted in the renaming of the School of Natural Resources to the Rubenstein School of Environ ment and Natural Resources. With your gift, you have made UVM’s position as one of the premier environmental schools in the country. Your Rubenstein Charitable Foundation has provided special support for UVM’s efforts in Lake Research included the new state of the art research vessel, the Marcelle Melosira, launched last year. For all of your transformative philanthropy, you have made UVM in the forefront of educating leaders, scientists and advocates to be catalysts for positive change. For all of this, I now confer upon you the Honorary Degree of Doctor of Humane Letters.
