July 2022 FC LIFE

We welcome our new FOOD and BEVERAGE DIRECTOR

DAVID KENT

Upon first meeting David, I was struck by how personable he is. He is a man who exudes confidence and actually listens. He is also definitely a family man, as you can see from the picture he chose for his introduction to our membership, which is one featuring not just him but also his wife of 25 years,

Lisa, and their 14 year old daughter, Addison, both of whom he is very proud. Lisa is an administrator at Banner Health Association, one of the largest non-profit health care systems in the country, headquartered in Arizona, and she will be able to work remotely from Florida. She is also a recent cancer survivor. Addison is a competitive swimmer, who is ranked in the top 10 in the United States for her age group. She has five statewide titles to her credit and led her team to a fourth place finish in recent statewide competition. She will be entering the ninth grade at Jupiter Community High School this fall and looks forward to being on their swim team and competing for the state championship as she did in Arizona. Realizing that with the very full lives that both Lisa and Addison had in Arizona, the move to Florida would be a big transition for both of them. He told them that he would not accept Mr. Tucker’s offer of being our Director of Food and Beverage unless both of them approved of the move. Happily, they both did and are now looking forward to a new life in Florida.

BW What did you do immediately prior to coming to Frenchman’s Creek?

DK I was in Phoenix, Arizona working as the General Manager of the Marriott International Camelback Resort. This hotel was a favorite of Bill Marriott, the Executive Chairman of Marriott International. I had an opportunity to get to know him and hear his insights on new trends in hospitality, the ins and outs of customer service, and how associates-should be treated. Because of their long hours of service, he felt it important for them to have a life outside of work and to achieve a healthy work/life balance. Mr. Marriott believes that life outside of work is an opportunity to “make deposits into one’s emotional bank account.”

BW What Inspired you to pursue a career in hospitality?
