LES KAPLAN called me, Bobbe Wiener, to relate the following golf story. ALL TRUE!!! “ It's one of the craziest golf events I've ever experienced..............

A couple of days ago, while playing the twelfth hole on the North course, my tee shot landed in the middle of the fairway. Barbara Ilsen, my playing partner, also hit her tee shot in the fairway.

As we drove toward our respective balls, a crow swooped down, picked my ball up in its beak, flew away with it - and dropped it in an adjacent lake.

While four of us stood laughing at what just happened, the same crow flew back, landed next to Bar- bara's ball, and picked it up, intending to fly away with that one too, Barbara drove her golf cart to- ward the bird, and using a limited number of words, strongly suggested that the bird drop the ball. It did - and left with an empty beak.

On reflection, I began to wonder what rules of golf might apply - In Barbara's case the ball moved, but as she was clearly addressing the bird, not the ball, was there a penalty?

In my case, am I penalized for my ball being in a hazard? Do I drop no nearer the hole, which is maybe a half mile away?

Do we score a birdie? “

I'm sure there are more fun golf rules that might work. Any ideas?
