Dear Members, The Beginning of January in my mind marks the beginning of the golfing season. Therefore, I wanted to update everyone on the golf happenings that are right around the corner. Friday January 8 is the first Nine, Wine and Dine of the season! This is a make your own foursome event, followed by dinner. Shotgun start at 3:30 pm. Contact the golf shop to register. January 10, 12 and 17 is the Frenchman’s Creek Ladies Member/Member golf tournament. This event is comprised of six two-person teams (Member/Member) in flights according to handicaps, and there will be six teams per flight. Each team will play a nine-hole match against the other five teams in their flight. The team with the most points after the five matches will win their flight. Sunday January 15 is an afternoonMixedCouples Par 3 Event. 18-hole event starting at 2:30 pm, and 9-hole event starting at 4:00 pm. Contact the golf shop to register or for additional details.
Men’s Member Guest, (ALMOST SOLD OUT) will be January 26, 27, 28, 2023. The format is six two-man teams (Member and Guest) in flights according to handicaps, and there will be six teams per flight. Each team will play a nine- hole match against the other five teams in their flight. The winner of each flight will advance to a shootout to determine the overall champions. The afternoon of January 26th will be an optional practice round, followed by a poolside Bar-B-Que. Friday, January 27th, we will play three nine-hole matches, and Saturday the 28th we will play two nine-hole matches followed by the Shootout and awards. This is a really fun event, so I would encourage everyone to invite their best friend or favorite golfing partner, so don’t miss out. More details have been sent under separate cover. Golf Cart Use Reminders Cart Sharing Requirements
Per the Club’s Rules and Regulations, during the season no more than two golf carts may be used when playing in a threesome or foursome, and no more than one golf cart when playing in a twosome. Please be advised that due to that significantly improved public health environment with respect to Covid-19 transmission and infection, medical waivers related to this rule will not be granted this year. Medical Flags Effective January 1, all previously issued medical flags will expire. Players who would like to extend their Medical Flag privileges (which offer relaxed on-course cart parking rules) must reapply for a 2023 Flag (bearing a distinctive new color scheme) at the Golf Shop or the Starter Shack (next to the practice putting green). A valid state-issued Disabled Person Parking Permit Certificate (or Placard) must presented to obtain a new Medical Flag. General Rules No golf cart shall be driven within ten (10) yards of the outer edge of a green or tee or a greenside bunker. Soft Areas on fairways shall also be avoided, especially after rains, and we strongly encourage members and guests to maximize use the cart paths and roughs whenever possible.
