JANUARY 2019 FC LIFE

Featured in the Palm Beach Post of December 27, 2018, Police dogs and their handlers have a new training ground in Palm Beach Gardens. Pictured above left to right are: Mike Valerio with Fargo, Chris Baez with Kestor, Matt with Justice, and Brian Tiyaloglu with Valeo. Donations from the Palm Beach Gardens Police and Fire Foundation and Frenchman’s Creek Charities paid for this $20,000 complex. Palm Beach Gardens, Jupiter and Tequesta police and their furry crime fighting companions train together at least eight hours once a week in a secluded field off Richard Road. The dogs and handlers use custom built props to practice strategic maneuvering, working in tandem to give the human officers cover when they find themselves in dangerous situations.

In addition to the above, we have helped to supply our second service dog to a wounded veteran. He is a Marine awarded three purple hearts. He lives in Missouri, his wife died and he has a small daughter, which is why he needs a service dog. He came to furry friends to get his dog this fall and will return to Palm Beach Gardens in time for the Westminster Dog Show, part of Frenchman’s Creek Charities Weekend in March.

A DECADE OF IMPACT: HOW FRENCHMAN’S CREEK CHARITIES HELPED LOGGERHEAD MARINE LIFE CENTER. A Public communication put out by Loggerhead explains how we have helped the Center become a powerful global influence in sea turtle research and ocean conservation education. In 2004 when the Marinelife Center of Juno Beach planned a new facility to expand its ocean conservation and rehabilitation efforts, Frenchman’s Creek Charities Foundation generously provided essential leadership. The Foundation’s rigorous giving criteria and subsequent support gave other foundations and individuals the confidence to join the emerging campaign. In 2007 more than 70,000 guests visited, in 2017, they welcomed 350,000 visitors. With our Frenchman’s support, they built a world renowned sea turtle hospital and rehabilitation yard, earning the Center the top reputation for sea turtle health; became a local STEM education center and world leader in sea turtle research.
