Obtained from the distillation of the fermented juice of the blue agave plant. Aged in oak barrels for 35 to 56 days. Gold tequila is left for nine month or more in 50 gallon oak barrels that give it its color. Premium tequila is aged for over 3 years. All tequila sold in the U.S. is produced in the area around the city of Tequila, in the state of Jalisco, Mexico.
