GOLF

Dear Members, The PGA merchandising show just concluded, and most significant manufacturers introduced exciting new equipment. We currently have TaylorMade scheduled on February 13 , and on February 15 , we have C leveland, XXIO, Callaway, and Mizuno all planned. As a reminder, all fitting days are by appointment, so contact the golf shop to try out some of the latest in golf equipment technology. The Ladies Robert Bruno Cup will be on Tuesday, February 27, and Thursday, February 29 . The format for the event is a two-day better ball of partner (Ringer) event. The Men’s Member-Member will be a two-man partner’s event. The event will be on Monday, February 5, Wednesday, February 7, and Friday, February 9 . The field will be divided into flights with six teams in each flight, and the flights will be determined from combined handicap indexes. The play format will be a round-robin; therefore, each team will play each other in their selected flight. (Each team must be available and able to play on each event date). The next Nine, Wine and Dine will be on Wednesday, February 14 ; yes, that is correct, on Valentine’s Day!! So, grab the one you love, enjoy nine holes of golf with friends, and enjoy dinner with your sweetheart. Junior Clinics (kids 5-12) will be on Tuesday, February 20, Wednesday, February 21, and Friday, February 23 , from 3-4:00 pm. The Family Par 3 event will be on Thursday, February 22. Contact the Golf Shop for more details, and registration can be made through the Frenchman’s Creek App or the Frenchman’s Creek website. Thank you in advance for supporting all these events. THE CHANUKAH AND CHRISTMAS SEASON WAS A FUN FILLED TIME AT FRENCHMAN ’ S CREEK. Even though the weather was not ideal there was some thing for everyone to keep busy. Food was a prime target and lunches and themed dinners at the Pavilion were well attended. The Beach Club provided some sun and warmth and dinners there were also excellent– many enjoyed Lobster Night as well as Christmas and Christmas Eve Buffets. The Pavilion had diners who wanted a sit down served meal of a few choices. Tennis and golf were enjoyed by all from 3 to upwards of 95 years of age with clinics and Kids Fun Zone entertaining our young est guests. New Year ’ s Eve as always was fun for the family and elegant and great for the Adults Only. Below are pictures from the Carnival– the highlight of Holiday Time– taken by Gail Kaltman.

Celebrations & Blessings

Most especially, the arrival of the newest SCHWARTZMAN member Madi Belle”. Joan’s first great granddaughter celebrated G.G.’s special Birthday at the Beach Club with her family. Joan has six grandsons (Jared, Jacob, Caleb, Emmett, Asa & Joseph) & one granddaughter. Eric, Brooke and “baby Madi” arrived from Dallas, Texas for this celebration. Lee Mindel arrived from New York City to celebrate & revisit Joan’s home. @sheltonmindel completed the interior design job nearly 35 years ago; which appeared in Architectural Digest, Metropolitan Home, Palm Beach Cottages & Gardens, Germany’s Wohn!Design, as well as the New York Times, and a number of sought-after books cele brating unique design style. The photo on the right is an unusual work of art and focal point that Lee placed in Joan’s home so many years ago surrounded by Joan and Lee of today! They have not aged! And we are sure with a name like Madi Belle she will be just like her GG!

OUR CIVIC SIDE OF FRENCHMAN’S CREEK Our collaborative beach clean up with the JUNO BEACH CIVIC ASSOCIATION began on Saturday morning, January 20, at 8 am at the Beach Club. Along with numerous Juno Beach residents, more than 35 of our members and staff were given plastic bags, blue for recyclables and clear for trash, and plastic gloves, and off we went. Too bad if you weren't there because it was a gorgeous morning with the sun just rising over a quiet ocean. Lots of sea birds hunting for food and shells everywhere. Not too much trash, but our Purchasing Manager Sonja Stumpf found a refrigerator door, leaving many of us to wonder what happened to the rest of the boat. Otherwise it was mostly bottle caps and plastic forks and knives stuck in the seaweed. We cleaned for about an hour and returned to the Beach Club to an absolute feast which included smoked salmon, quiches, frittatas and quesadillas, and so much more!! There were some prizes and speeches by our partners from the Juno Beach Civic Association, represented by Donna Hamilton and Jeri Glynn. Juno Beach Vice Mayor Peggy Wheeler and Councilwoman DD Halpern attended, as well as our Executive Director, Miles, and Assistant General Manager, Bernie, who brought his wife, Gwen, and their granddaughter. Also attending were several staff members from almost every department from Frenchman ’ s Creek all attending on their day off. Many thanks to our great Marketing team and Cindy Teyssedou and her team at the Beach Club for organizing and supporting the event. We had such a good time. We hope to do it again in the Spring. Please plan to attend next time! NORMA LIPPMAN

The goal of the Frenchman's Creek Charities Foundation, founded over 30 years ago, is to support the work of local non-profits in our area that provide health, education, cultural and financial assistance to nearby needy populations primarily in Palm Beach Gardens, Jupiter and Juno Beach. While we've traditionally supported about 20 local charities, as well as the police, fire and recreation departments in the towns where Frenchman's is located, additional funds we've accrued will enable us to add newer charities to our roster. Our Allocations Committee has been busy evaluating 32 organizations' grant requests and once determinations are made, Charity Committee members will make site visits to these non-profits to see for themselves where our money goes. As examples of last year's success, the Palm Beach Gardens Fire and Rescue Department got a dozen ballistic rifle-rated shields; low-income children got to see the ocean and sea turtles for the first time thanks to an educational program at Loggerhead Marinelife Center, and veterans in financial straits were helped through the Wounded Veterans Relief Fund. The Charities Foundation is like a giving circle. While an individual donation is significant, the com bined funds help us make a difference and have enabled us to fully fund our grantees the past few years. We make this happen through our fun-filled Charity Weekend, scheduled for April 5-7, where we'll have Tennis and Tikkyball Tournaments, our Auction of the Pros and Caddies and cocktail party, a Saturday night Name That Tune event as well as our Sunday golf outing and festive closing dinner.

We welcome your participation in all these events since the more we raise, the more we can help our neighbors, make philanthropy fun and show that we are the "Community that Cares."
