FC Life May 2020

Even though life is definitely not back to normal, being able to play golf again has sure helped to raise the spirits of a lot of members. Within minutes of announcing that the courses would be opened again, the golf shop was swamped with requests for reservations. So many members were so very anxious to play again. The new rules adhere to the necessary safety measures. There may be only one person in a golf cart, unless the other person shares the same home. No rakes are in the sand traps, the flag sticks can't be handled, no hand goes into a hole, and, of course, social distancing. A very clever innovation for the holes - the Easy Lift - is a big help. A disc on the bottom of the hole is attached to a thin rod that can be raised to pop out the ball with the club head or a foot, so the reach in rule can be followed. In fact, this might be a great device to keep even after things go back to normal. There are still no caddies, or touching golf bags, but hopefully the wonderful golf staff, which has been helping out in so many other ways, will be able to soon get back to normal. Kim has again started the Ladies Day Golf games on Tuesdays, with huge signups. Instead of the normal shotgun starts, there are assigned tee times, which very smartly avoids a large group at any time. The ladies thank Kim for all her efforts.

Here we are, just starting Restorative Stretch Class, (after an extended quarantine due to Covid-19), behind the Fitness Center Pool. It was at 9 am and the morning sun, streaming through the pine needles made the trees look as though they were hung with long ropes of tinsel. So beautiful.
