RANDALL and DAWN MARIE BURCHAM who have purchased the Nicklaus’ home on Calais Drive. They also reside in Wolcott, Colorado.

Among her prior leadership roles have been chairman of the board of Park Avenue Synagogue and chairman of the Town School. For our new members, the B’s are Drs. Burt Greenberg and Bob Gleiber, our resident bird watchers.  April 6th, a beauƟful day for golf……… and for birding! So our resident birders, B (urt) ad B(ob) decided to do  both. While maintaining pace of play and keeping track of their golf balls, they searched the creeks and  ponds, bushes and trees, and the sky for signs of bird life. It tuned out to be a glorious day. Not only did they  play well (we do not know how with all they had to do), they idenƟfied 24, yes twenty‐four, different spe‐ cies by sight and 3 more by sound. Their playing partners thought maybe they had each seen 2 birds, neither  of which they could idenƟfy. Highlights of the day included the Sandhill cranes with their babies, a red tail  hawk, brown thrashers, wood stork and loggerhead shrikes. The next day, one of the B’s saw a bald eagle  and a pair of Killdeer. Several of the regular seen birds were not seen that day or the count could have been  higher. Editor’s note, I saw a red headed bird in my tree, thought it was a  female cardinal at first but then  thought it was a woodpecker unƟl the good Dr. Burt told me red headed woodpeckers are not in Florida and  he idenƟfied it as a cardinal by the sound I heard. This column has definitely had me look at nature different‐ ly– hope you do the same and have fun with it.  We thank Burt Greenberg  for this arƟcle and the both B’s for the great  pictures.

Here are two family developments that excite Loretta and me.

LORETTA and BOB LIFTON are delighted at the marriage of their granddaughter Meg on May 26th. The bride, Meg Healy, is the Talent Development Manager at Horizon Health Services, the largest mental health services provider in Buffalo New York. The groom, Nate Gulley, just graduated with his MBA from SUNY Buffalo and is a bank officer in the prestigious Executive Associates program at M&T bank. Separately, on May 14th, the Lifton's grandson Matt Hooper, the host of the 'IBM Blockchain Pulse' podcast, produced, also in collaboration with IBM, the first event of its kind: 'Blockchain On Broadway'. A tech-inspired musical variety show featuring songs, skits, and a keynote interview, 'Blockchain On Broadway' was a totally SOLD OUT show, performed in the heart of the theater district, during the most im- portant week of its kind: Blockchain Week NYC."

LIBRARY NEWS You may have noƟced that your Frenchman’s Creek library looks different. AŌer 15 years, we decided to  do a Spring Cleaning. There are a few things that we, your volunteer librarians, would like to bring to your  aƩenƟon. We ask that you donate books that are CURRENT. We are no longer shelving paperback books  so please do not bring them to the library. We now have room for puzzles (all the pieces please) and  games. NO VIDEOS. We ask that you DO NOT SHELVE books, please place them in the book container.  The library has been a pleasant addiƟon to the many conveniences we enjoy here at Frenchman’s Creek.  Please keep reading and donaƟng books.   Thank you.

              SATURDAY, MAY 11, 2019

Only about 15 women came, so chances are, you weren't there. And that's really too bad, because the Mother's Day Tea Party was absolutely royal. We do a lovely tea party menu for the day the Charity Foundation gives out the checks, but the menu for Mother's Day was different. The tea sandwiches included lobster salad, smoked salmon roll-ups and triangles of excellent caviar. The cakes and petit fours were equally special and the champagne was ice-y and delicious. The staff, as always, were perfect and we all agreed, as we left, roses in hand ,that the only thing missing was....... you. Hope to see you next Mother's Day. Norma Lippman

A GREAT DAY AT THE PALM BEACH PAR 3 GOLF COURSE Tuesday, May 21st, 27 women and 9 staff members travelled by bus to the Palm Beach Par 3 Golf Course. The weather was magnificent with sun very few clouds and a slight breeze to make the warm day bearable. Three women and a pro or caddie played a 2 ball shamble. FUN is an understatement to the day. The course is not easy and ideal to use irons and putt on an entirely different green than ours. The surroundings are fairy tale and we learned (some the hard way) that it is Iguana paradise. Do not bring a retriever as yours truly nonchalantly and vigorously was walking to retrieve her ball when all of a sudden, she spied an iguana in her path. A hasty retreat was had to the laugh of the day. After golf, we all had a delicious and filling lunch served on the upper porch of the clubhouse. It was a fabulous day and we cannot stop talking how much fun it was to all be on two buses and play a different course. Some of the women came up with an excellent idea, could we please go to a reciprocal course in the same format– that is how great the day was. Pictured below is the group and our “friends– the Iguanas.” We thank, JR, Andrea Finkel, Chris Horn and myself for the pictures– and especially Kim who arranged everything. Kudos to her!
