We have now entered the dog days of summer, and the heat and humidity have really kicked in. Most likely, the month of August will not bring any reprieve either. Staying hydrated is of utmost importance, and we have staff out on both nines delivering cold water and chilled towels. Whenever the opportunity presents itself, find shade which will feel 10-15 degrees cooler. The heat and humidity produce thunderstorms with intense lighting, and they can develop in a hurry. Below is a friendly reminder about our ThorGuard system. ThorGuard Lightening Prediction System: The ThorGuard Lightening prediction system measures the energy in the atmosphere, and predicts the probability of a lightening strike within a specific area. Our system is set to measure a five-mile radius from the temporary golf shop. One long blast of the horn means there is imminent lightening danger. Also, orange strobe lights are located throughout the property (for the hearing impaired). If the orange strobe light is flashing, it indicates that we are in lightening suspension. Then, play is suspended and all golfers should immediately seek the nearest shelter. Three short blasts of the horn indicates the threatening weather has dissipated and it is safe to resume play. Everyone should remember that the system is a prediction system and is not foolproof and one should always assess the threat risk and use their best judgment. The 2024-2025 Seasonal Golf Calendar is nearly complete and will be released in early August.
